Easy Amazing Body Scrub

So you want a great body scrub but don’t want the high price or all the added chemicals? Well I have got your solution!  This body scrub will Body Scrub Terri DeVoreexfoliate your skin, help with cellulite and leave you with baby soft skin! The best part? It’s made from things you can find in your kitchen!

Ingredients: coffee grounds, olive oil, and sugar. Simple.

To make this amazing concoction, simply mix the coffee grounds and sugar together. Add olive oil until mixture becomes like a paste in texture. There is really no right or wrong when it comes to ratio. I use more coffee than sugar but just play with it and find the combination you like.

Why is this stuff so great? The coffee grounds help stimulate your skin cells and therefore (they say) help reduce cellulite. (I don’t know if this has been proven but it couldn’t hurt to try, right?) The sugar helps with exfoliating your dead skin cells and the olive oil leaves your skin softer than any man made body lotion…guaranteed!

As far as the coffee grounds, I use the ones from my old k-cups. I empty them in a container with a lid and keep it in the refrigerator. Then when I need to make the scrub I have my coffee grounds ready to go! (I make the scrub as needed so it’s always fresh).

When you are in the shower, simply rub all over body and rinse off. Easy!

Stop With The Excuses!

“Too busy to workout?” Sorry, I don’t think so.

This definitely has to be the number one excuse I hear when it comes to people not exercising.  What’s funny is that these same people tell me they would feel better, have more energy, and feel more confident if they would exercise, but they “just don’t have time”.timeday

Well, I am here to call you out on it.  Look, sometimes a little tough love is needed and get ready because here it comes.  WE ARE ALL BUSY. You are not the only one with a spouse, children or a crazy job with long hours.  We all have obstacles in our lives. We all have things we absolutely have to get done each day. We have responsibilities that we cannot put off.  You know what else? We all have the same 24 hours in a day.

The difference between the people that “have time” to excise is that they make the time.  If something is important to you, you tend to make it work into your schedule.

If you are one who thinks you don’t “have time’, do me a favor.  For the next 3 or 4 days keep track of your time. That’s right, keep a “time journal”, if you will.

Write down every task you are working on and the start / finish time. Do this for everything. Keep this up over the next few days and you will be surprised at al the time you “find”.  Be aware of time suckers such as Facebook, TV, or mindlessly surfing the net.

As I said, we all have the same 24 hours in a day. How you spend those hours is up to you.  You will make time for things you deem important so stop with the excuses, lace up those shoes, and get with it!

Impress? Why, Yes!

Okay, so I have to share my obsession with you all. Impress nails. Have you seen these? I’m addicted!  I get compliments on my nails all the time so I guess the name “Impress’ is right on. 🙂

These are the easiest, fastest, most simple nails I have ever come across. And unlike many other fake nails, these do not ruin your real nails. When you peel these puppies off, your real nails are healthy and untouched!

impress_nailsI actually saw a commercial one night for these and thought “sure, why not”. I had no idea I would soon be solely supporting the company!

If you are anything like me it’s hard to sit still so to sit at a salon and get my nails done is actual torture for me. Yes, torture.  I always end up leaving before they are really dry and 2 seconds outside the door I have ruined them.

Not with these bad boys!  I can do these at home and they literally take less than 10 minutes to apply and look amazing when they are done.

The steps are as follows:

Size the nails up to find the best fit for your nail

Take the sticker off the back

Stick on real nail

Seriously- that’s it!…viola, beautiful!

You can find them in stores (like CVS, HEB, Walgreens) from $5.99- 7.99.  I have found they truly last about 7 days (just like they say). When they start to come off, you can peel them off very easily (no solution needed and no pain).

Diet -The Four Letter Word

Ya know, I hear all the time about people “going on diets”. Let me say this right now-; if we are face-to-face when you tell me this and you see my face scowl and my nose turn up, it’s not you, it’s that phrase. I absolutely despise that phrase and I want you to also.

First of all, it sets you up for failure right away. If you are going “on” a diet, at some point you are going to go “off” the diet and then what happens? Well, you will most likely put back on the weight you lost plus more (since you jacked with your metabolism).

 Instead of thinking a diet is something you go “on” or “off”, think of it as what it really is.  The definition of diet is: the kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats.  (See that key word- habitually?)

So let’s change our thinking about our diet. Let’s not make it about restricting foods or having nothing but liquids, cabbage or grapefruit. Let’s think of our diet as what we eat to fuel our bodies.

Let’s think of our diet and get excited about all the great food we CAN have. Let’s think of adding something new each week and having fun exploring healthy foods.Let’s change our current diet step by step until we have gotten rid of the sugar, processed food, and junk and replaced it with healthy, nutrient rich foods.

Let’s create a healthy lifestyle diet (in the true meaning of the word) that we can live with and never go “off”.  Who’s with me?

Tropical Banana Berry Frozen Yogurt Pie

With a quinoa crust and a touch of Shakeology, it’s hard to imagine a healthier pie.

Total Time: 3 hrs., 30 min.tropical shakeology pie
Prep Time: 20 min.
Yield: 10 servings

Ingredients:
¾ cup dry quinoa
1/2 cup chopped raw walnuts
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
2 Tbsp. coconut oil
¾ cup pure maple syrup, divided use
1 (12-oz.) container firm silken tofu
2 Tbsp. Greenberry Shakeology (I would think the Tropical or chocolate flavors would work also)
¼ cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
¼ cup canned lite coconut milk
4 Tbsp. fresh lime juice
2 tsp. finely chopped lime peel
¾ medium ripe banana

Preparation:
1. Preheat oven to 400° F.
2. Grind quinoa in a clean spice or coffee grinder until finely ground.
3. Place quinoa, walnuts, and cinnamon in a food processor. Pulse until well mixed.
4. Combine quinoa mixture, oil, and ½ cup maple syrup in a medium bowl; mix well.
5. Press mixture into 9-inch pie pan. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool.
6. Place tofu, Shakeology, yogurt, coconut milk, lime juice, lime peel, remaining ½ cup maple syrup, and banana in a blender; cover. Blend until smooth. 7. Pour tofu mixture into cooled pie crust.
8. Freeze for 3 hours, or until set.
9. Cut into 10 servings.

It’s a Protein, It’s a Vegetable..It’s Edamame!

Need to get out of your healthy snack rut? Mix it up with some edamame.

edamame3Edamame are soybeans that are high in protein and fiber making them a tasty (and filling) treat.  They also contain many other nutrients including vitamin A, calcium, and iron.

Some call edamame the super vegetable because it is the only vegetable that contains all nine essential amino acids. This makes edamame a complete protein source, similar to meat or eggs.

Plus did I mention it is super easy to prepare and so super yummy?

edamameIn most stores you can find edamame in the frozen food section. They have some in “steamer” bags that you simply place the entire bag in the microwave, heat up and viola, it’s ready!

To serve, simply place heated edamame in bowl and toss with sea salt (unless you are watching your salt intake). Enjoy warm or cold.

You can also use in stir-fry dishes, soups, and salads.
